Another hiatus?!

Seriously, kids; I've got to get myself together! How hard is it for me to log in and write 6 sentences?! Ugh.
Anyway, here's my recent news! I've become affiliated with BzzAgent.com and have started getting lots of free samples (FULL SIZE!) to try out and review. Ive recently received a box full of some pretty awesome sunscreen - big statement, because i hate sunscreen - and I LOVE it! More importantly, Blaise likes it! Since we live in Vegas and it is already around 110 degrees, I don't wear heavy lotions and creams. Thus, I usually don't bother with sunscreen *insert audible gasp*. That said, the new Coppertone ClearlySheer Sunscreen, is so lightweight that I'm actually using it!! I love it! It smells nice, too. After you head to BzzAgent.com and sign up, go to the store and pick up Coppertone ClearlySheer! You'll love it!

You Can't Curry Love

After a long day, we got home and realized we were all starving. I had maybe 15 minutes to get dinner from the pantry to the table before we had a cannibal situation on our hands. I had some leftover chicken. I had some rice. I had a plan.
I cubed the 3 leftover chicken breasts and threw them in with 2 boxes of this stuff -

(Available at Big Lots for $1.75)

I put it over some rice and Voila! Dinner was served and cannibalism was evaded.

The kid said "a little spicy, but really yummy".

A shapely lunch and a dartboard

The kid is on a dry salami kick. He ate about a half pound of the stuff yesterday. So, of course, he wanted "just the weird pepperoni" for lunch today. You can't survive on "weird pepperoni" alone, so I made a spread of dry salami, cheese, grapes, and cocktail bread; each with a different shape. Because, you know, lunchtime = learning time.

After lunch, we played with Blaise's new Doinkit Darts dartboard. The Easter Bunny bought it at our favorite place, Kettlemuck's Toy Shoppe :) It's a super awesome, magnetic, dart set and we had so much fun playing with it! Truth be told, I played a little by myself after everyone went to bed tonight...sssshhhhhh.....
Anyway, call Kettlemuck's at 702-776-8349 and get yourself a Doinkit Darts dartboard!

Let's play a game

Seriously, how did a month go by already and I've posted nothing?! Ugh. So, let's play the catch up game.

Last week, my beautiful friend, Jolanda, invited me to a tasting at the soft opening of Guy Fieri's new restaurant at The Quad. Free food makes me happy. Delicious free food makes me so happy that I could dance on a table, without even needing tequila shots.
We started off with the Sashimi Won-Tacos; a fresh and crispy appetizer made up of fresh ahi sashimi, inside of wonton taco shells, and topped with mango-jicama salsa.

Next, we shared the Gnarly Greek Salad, Mayor of Flavortown Burger, Fireball Whiskey Wings, and The Motley Que Sandwich. The entrees were huge and DELICIOUS!!

We finished off with the most freaking amazing cheesecake that has ever existed. Light, fluffy, perfect cheesecake topped with potato chips, pretzels, and hot fudge. I LOVE this cheesecake. I need this cheesecake to be a permanent fixture in my daily diet. I don't say this lightly; I'm a self proclaimed cheesecake snob. I can't stop thinking about that cheesecake...

We washed everything down with some wonderful cocktails :)
Here is a link to the menu, so you can read up on the ingredients in each of the items :) http://vegas.eater.com/archives/2014/04/21/the-full-menu-prices-at-guy-fieris-vegas-kitchen-bar.php
While I find Guy Fieri's lingo, flavor saver facial hair, and backward sunglasses to be gigantically absurd, his food is seriously awesome. The service was incredible, the food was amazing, and the prices were pretty decent for a Strip restaurant. If you are in Vegas, you have absolutely got to eat here! While you're already at The Quad and parked in that awful parking garage, you may as well check out Frank Marino's Divas!

Strawberry Fields

Over the weekend, I saw a deal on strawberries that I couldn't pass up. I found myself with 6 pounds of beautiful, red berries and I needed a plan. Here's what happened:

I pureed 2 pounds of the strawberries to start with. We made ice cream in a bag and added about 2 cups of the puree into the bag. I made strawberry and orange soap. Tomorrow I make strawberry jam. I'll probably still have strawberries left over ;)

This was our first time making ice cream in a bag, and it was super easy and fun! We made three different types: strawberry, peanut butter, and almond. Here's the recipe that we used:

1 cup half and half
2 tablespoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 pint-size ziplock bag
1 gallon-size ziplock bag
Ice cubes (enough to fill each gallon-size bag about half full)
1/2 cup Kosher salt
*whatever mix-ins you like

In the small bag, mix up the sugar, half & half, and vanilla extract. Put the ice and salt into the gallon size bag. Put the small bag into the big bag and shake that motha up! It took about 5ish minutes for the ice cream to harden.

We stirred the pureed strawberries into the mixture in the small bag before we began shaking. It turned into a wonderful strawberry ice cream! To the second bag, we stirred in organic powdered peanut butter before shaking. The hubs LOVED it! To my bag, I omitted the vanilla extract and used almond extract, instead. Unfortunately, I forgot to add the sugar to my bag, so it wasn't very delicious :(

After making all that ice cream, I still had lots of strawberry puree to use up. I mixed up about 2-1/2 pounds of glycerin soap and added the strawberry puree and some orange essential oil. I poured most of the mix into a loaf mold, which is setting as I write this. The rest went into sea creature molds for Blaise to use in his bath :) Once the soap is cured, you'll be able to buy it through my Etsy site!

I still have a ton of strawberries left, so I'll be making strawberry jam this week. I'll let you know how it turns out!

Pizza Pie…That's amore

We love pizza around here. However, I don't love delivery pizza. So, we have a fun family pizza tradition - tie-dyed pizza :) I'm over making homemade dough right now, so we use frozen bread dough. We throw it in a zip-loc bag with some food coloring, and let the kid knead it up. Super easy and super fun!

Life gave me lemons.

We seem to have a citrus overload in this house recently. After making limoncello, we juiced all of the lemons and got left with a quart of lemon juice. So, Blaise and I made some lemonade today. We have 7/8 of a quart of lemon juice left, so expect a lot of recipes with lemon juice :)

Oh, I promised to post a recipe for scones tonight. I didn't do it yet, so check back again tomorrow :)

How the lemonade was made:

10oz fresh lemon juice
10oz water
1/4 c sugar
